DIGIBOX? PARENT? RTFM? you certainly should...
ROTFLMAO!

Being the kind of sad twat who reads the manuals
but doesn't use it as an excuse to talk impenetrable
tosh that's usually associated with "techies", I feel
I must share this absolute gem with you.

The troubleshooting guide for my new digibox is a
tabular affair and includes the problem of why any
given channel may not be working.

One of the possibilities is that a parental lock code
has been set and subsequently forgotten.

The solution?

Rescan the box!

Priceless! Absolutely made my day that!

Chances of the average 7 year old not knowing this
little hack around? Erm, very low.

Chances of the average parent actually reading the
manual? Erm, about as low.

As such parental locks are a pointless waste of
time once your kid has left nursery school or reception
class.

Well worth the money for a new box on its own that
one.

So why do your posts look like impenetrable tosh?

It is convention to put "-- " BEFORE your signature. Copyright slogans
in capitals make you look like a kid of fourteen, but it does find all
your posts in google - which is kind of interesting ;-)

Similarly with a Panasonic 7000 series cordless phone. Anyone who cares
to read the manual can discover that if you have set a pin code and
forgotten it, you only need to use the code "*7000". It makes me wonder
how many more important things have stupid flaws like this that are
only waiting for some miscreant to discover them.

HMP handcuffs are the same, if you know the trick, off they come.

In which case I assume everyone who regularly finds themselves in
situations where they need to know this trick already does so.

I just hope most nuclear missiles were not designed this way.

So what's the default PIN for ATMs?
