OT - wurd geeks
- kebab salad
- salad kebab
While looking through some takeaway menus i noticed that one takeaway
has (kebab salad) while a different takeaway uses (salad kebab) .
What one is correct ? .
(its the exact same as a normal kebab - but without the doner meat)

Both are correct. My local kebab house is also correct when it uses the
name "pitta salad".

Pitta salad is probably more correct .
For how can something be called a kebab if it doesnt actually have or
contain any kebab meat .

Perhaps this:
I've only ever seen 'doner kebab', not a 'kebab doner'. Same with the other
kebabs.
So, I would suggest that a 'salad kebab' should be a kebab that is made up
of salad rather than meat.
That leaves 'kabab salad' being the salad that gets added to a meat kebab.
Not sayin thats true or correct, it just feels logical, if not natural.

Remember the test for a good Kebab - leave it outside for a few days and
if no animal has touched it then it's not a good kebab!

Indeed, but there are others of course like soya 'meat', non-alcoholic
'beer' and the vegetarian 'sausage'.

Maybe people think that anything that can be cooked on a skewer -
vegetables, for instance - qualifies as a kebab.

So what is a vegetable kebab?
Most shops here sell them. Mushrooms, toms, etc on a skewer, cooked on an
open grill and served in pita. No meat in sight and considered a kebab.
I've also seen pita stuffed with cold salad sold as a salad kebab.

and "nut cutlets" that brings tears to your eyes.

One place I lived had a shop which sold
"Donor Kebabs"...
...no wonder there's a waiting list on the
NHS.
