"And now on BBC1....
... we're going to show the tennis, even though it's already on BBC2
and people could very easily use their television remotes to change
channel we thought we'd cancel all tonights programming instead."

Yes, but what is being missed on BBC1 as a consequence?

The One Show, which i'm sure people can do without for one day
A repeat of My family
and Celebrity Masterchef, which according to the EPG on my freeview
box is now going to be on BBC2 at 8 in place of Today at Wimbledon.

That said, if Murray does manage to pull the rabbit out of the hat
again, Criminal Justice could be on later than scheduled (again).

I'm not overly bothered though, as I can still watch what I was going
to watch, just not on the channel i'd anticipated.

Yeah was a bit pointlessly annoying.

It's amusing when the BBC (well, not just them) try to `cross-sell`
other sports in the middle of a football tournament. Like the Olympics
and Tennis. Er..no, it's just football, thanks. Watching tennis sends
me to sleep, and although I'll admit to finding a few minutes of
preposterous sports such as curling amusing, it's not something I'd
willing spend 3 weeks (and thirty billion pounds or whatever the
guestimate is this week) on.

Even as someone who enjoys the Tennis this is irritating. Not least because
I know it will irritate those who want to watch what was origionally
scheduled.

Not only that, its annoying to be sat there watching a match and then have
to turn over for no good reason, especially when its on BBC 2 to start with.
If it were on BBC1 and over shot, runing the main BBC1 schedule that the
ajority want to watch, and they have to spill over to BBC2 then fine. I can
understand that.

On the othr hand the Gasket match did aparently get over 10M viewers, which
isnt to be sniffed at. But I bet most would have watched that on BBC2.

Clearly they are trying to maximise thier numbers, which is understandable,
but it does seem a bit OTT.

It seems to be a strange mind set that believes that people will
only watch what is thrust in front of them, and will not change
channel accordingly.

Was this done as a service, an attempt to increase viewers or
what?

Is the audience that fickle? Is isn't as if the tennis was
brought over from BBC4 - surely access to BBC1 & BBC2 is pretty
much the same?

first episode of Criminal Justice.
