F-Word Last Night
Enjoying the latest series.

Last night, having previously brought us images of that Italian cheese
that’s allowed to go fly blown and then is eaten complete with the
live maggots (cheese flavour apparently), we were treated to the
concept of everything on a pig can be eaten except its squeak, the
highlight being its arsehole.

The pigeon shoot seemed a lot of hard work (not to mention cartridges)
for not much in the way of meat, did look tasty though.

On the subject of game the one wild creature in this country there’s
definitely an abundance of is rats – so why not?

Rats are eaten in many countries and there’s a lot more meat on them
than pigeons, I’ve seen some the size of rabbits.

There's a menu in one of Terry Pratchett's 'Diskworld' books, along the lines
of:

Rat - 1 dollar
Rat with ketchup - 5 dollars

The mark-up being explained away by "if you've ever tried rat on its own,
you'll know why".

I was wondering the week before if he actually did catch that salmon
himself or if the ghillies caught it .

Wood pigeon is very tasty. My dad used to shoot when we were kids and
often brought home pigeon and rabbit.
