[OTP] Neighbours Spoilers - 2008N28
SPOILERS FOR NEIGHBOURS, 24-28 NOV'08 (5532-5536)
Tyler's plans to enlist Rachel as a female vocalist come unstuck, since
Logan Ellis & other band members want full auditions. Callum phones Jarrod
to bring him & Mickey home, then tells the Parkers how his friend was badly
neglected by Ned. Daniel advises Tyler to pad out the auditions with weaker
singers such as Sienna. Lou takes Mickey to Perth hoping to sort everything
out. Susan's ethics are compromised when Pete turns up at the Erinsborough
News, complaining that his blood was illegally taken by a Dr.Kennedy.
Elle interrogates Susan, who can say only that Karl is covering for one
of the nurses. Sienna is charming & cute, very pretty, out of school, and
she sings better than most other wannabes at the auditions - but she's not
Rachel. Elle makes Susan pay Pete $5000 for his story, which will be buried
on an inside page. Tyler is gutted after his friends choose Sienna for the
band, while his lack of faith in Rachel hurts her. A scared Nicola tells
her boss 'what Karl did', then lies that she had to cover for him.
Though Nicola convinces Jarrod that she is not pregnant, Susan rounds on
her when Karl is suspended. Rebecca makes Carmella worry that she's leading
Ringo on, then accuses Paul of getting too cosy with Susan. From talking to
Bridget, Miranda believes that Riley won't come home until Nicola has gone.
Lucas fights Daniel back by trying to sabotage the Dingoes' tactics. Susan
fiendishly gets Karl to pretend he does care for Nicola, to make her weaken
- only for him to discover the woman is tougher than they thought.
The rivalry between Libby & Daniel intensifies as they compete to become
Head of the Senior School, but she's distracted by Zeke's woes since Declan
beat him in the IQ test, and he's distracted by difficulties at the footie.
Thanks to Ringo, Tyler & Declan handling Lucas, Daniel goes on to ace his
interview with the Principal - only to give up the post in favour of Libby,
who is predictably furious. But after the Dingoes win the big match, Daniel
keeps declaring his love until Libby listens, and then he kisses her.
While Libby shares her happy news with Stephanie, Daniel pretends that
Lucas & Samantha never happened. Pete complains to Paul, who is angered to
learn that Susan owns the story and Elle acted against him. Stephanie warns
Daniel that she will gut him like a fish if he hurts Libby. Paul decides to
splash the story on the front page, until Susan & Elle join forces to stop
him. Libby & Daniel's first date is quite a nervous affair. As Elle gives
Susan a lift home, Pete arises from the back seat and kidnaps them.

I know! At last! We used to play a game on ATF or UMTF where people would
name any subject they liked, and you had to drag it back to "Friends".

Nearly...
RACHEL: She is not Rachem. What the hell's a Rachem? Is that some stupid
paleontology word that I wouldn't know because I'm just a waitress.
She goes into her apartment and slams the door.
ROSS: No, Rach, come on. Rach! Rach, no, no! She's not Rachel, she is,
she is not, Ra... Rachel?

That scene always pissed me off - Rachel was displaying a Joey-like
dumbness, especially since she knew from her own 'compuper' skills, not
to mention her attempts to write an erotic novel, how easy typos are to
make! :(

It didn't always work, though. :)

It *was* in character for her, though. At that point in the series, Rachel
was *incredibly* selfish and self-obsessed.

Stupid, no. Immensely thoughtless... definitely!
To be honest, I think that Rachel was the best character in Friends, because
she was the only one who went through any real character development.
