Yesterday's Today in Parliament
On yesterday's Today in Parliament I heard an MP who used to be a nurse
describe how an aborted baby had gasped for air for seven minutes before
dying in a bedpan that she was holding. Who was that MP/ex-nurse? Even
a guess will help.

Tia.

Her name is Nadine Dorries. I phoned her this morning to give her my
support, not to be too downhearted at losing, and she was very nice.

Thank you. My heart went out to her when she was describing her
experience.

My heart went out to the child dying, gasping for air, unloved in the
bucket, put there by the "medical" profession. What a psychopathic state
we live under.

The bits I heard were very biased in favour of the pro-life lobby and
the whole treatment was tabloid-inspired emotional stuff.

The kid was, from statistics, probably brain damaged. It was
evidently unwanted. So what sort of a life would it have had?
Would that life of suffering have been better than the 7 minutes it
did undergo?

Whilst I understand your viewpoint, it is this kind of sentimenality
that clouds the issue. I think abortion is wrong, but I think we
should be concentrating on the cause (fecklessness beyond description
- viz the woman in the media recently who had had 4 abortions), rather
than agonising over the outcome of irresponsible shagging.

I would rather this procedure was carried out by the medical
profession, that you deride, rather than seedy backstreet
abortionists. Have you seen "Vera Drake"?

Here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7306246.stm we read of
people having eight or more abortions. Given the ready availability of
contraceptives (including the morning after pill) and contraceptive
advice I see no reason for unwanted pregnancy except in the case of
rape--and victims of rape could have abortions legally before Steele's
bill.

If that was the only choice then I agree with you, but it isn't the only
choice.

A name known at www.badscience.com , where it has been proposed that
some of what she communicates should not be taken at face value.

Now you've caught it I think it's www.badscience.net - oh, just type
"Ben-Goldacre" into Google.
