Radio 4 9 O'clock News
You know society hasn't got that much to really worry about when...
Second item on the 9 am Radio 4 news was about St Kilda being concerned
about rats from a grounded freighter attacking the Puffins on the
Island.
Makes you proud to be British :-)

And on the R2 news a tale of a man upset because a bull mastiff had
parked itself in his drive. Didn't hurt anyone and he didn't have the
wit to shift it.

St Kilda is an important nature reserve. At last word, there were no
rats, and sailors expressed confidence that there would not be rats on
board a modern boat; I'm sure that the naturalists will be delighted
to have nothing to do, but if there was an invasion then the odds of
successfully controlling it are very poor, I'd guess.
And of course all of the worries of the world that aren't new news,
such as bird flu (whoops), still apply.
