Why are you lying (again) Follett?
When you posted in demon.local your vivid description of how your novel
"Those In Peril" was almost never written, you claimed the story was based
on the "Atlantis" incident and definitely *NOT* on the "Laconia" incident.
*You* said that.
When you were asked exactly which incident your book *was* based on you
posted this link:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/German_auxiliary_cruiser_Atlantis#U-68.2...126.2C_a_Nightmare.2C_and_HMS_Devonshire
In my humble opinion it all boils down to the fact that you wished to place
some sort of historical value on your novel. There was no need: as a retired
sailor I thought your book quite good when I read it and I even recognised a
lot of the details from history, such as the U-boat Captain caught in the
bath on the auxiliary cruiser when the British attacked. (Wikipedia also
says that though more serious sites suggest the U-boat commander was
consulting about supplies such as fuel, stores, etc.)
Why have you *now* introduced the "Laconia" into the equation when you so
long ago insisted your story had absolutely nothing to do with the
"Laconia"?
