Minor royal in blackmail plot is named...
Driving home this even from work and listening to 5 Live (yes, I know this
is the Radio Four newsgroup, but the Five Live group seems a bit quiet of
late, plus, I also class myself as a Radio Four listener too!), I heard it
reported that the name of the minor royal at the centre of the current
blackmail/sex allegation is already being mentioned across the internet,
although they were careful not to mention any name.

Curiosity aroused, it took me all of one minutes to find the following link
to an Australian newspaper...

http://www.news.com.au:80/adelaidenow/story/0,22606,22678109-5006301,00.html

So, they're chatting away on the internet about it, they're reporting it in
parts of the world's press, yet here in the UK we're officially not supposed
to know.

I heard someone on BBC radio this afternoon saying that he thought it
doubtful that the British public would ever find out who was the 'minor
royal' at the centre of the story. 'Ever' seems to be a very short period of
time these days!

Regards... David Allan.

Who else could it have been other than Linley or "Desert Orchid", named
on account of his pinned back ears(anyone familiar with National Hunt
racing will know what I am talking about immediatly). Sometimes known
as "Mr Sheen" on account of his day job. Frightful bore who never has
any money on his person.

We've been telling him this for years. It's just one of his endearing
idiosyncrasies.

Interesting that on "Have I Got News For You", the TV cardboard copy
of the news quiz, after some discussion of this topic, avoiding names,
of course, the had an odd-one-out round, one of the subjects being
Viscount Linley.

I thought that was quite clever. You'd only notice if you already knew
of the link.
I reckon the secrecy is more damaging. Graham Norton made some
joke/comment about it which implied there was more to the allegations
than there appears to be.

It runs in the family. There was no bigger "dung puncher" in British
India than Lord Mountbatten.

Even Prince Charles has been "at it".
