Jeanette Winterson v. Stephen Hawkin
On Private Passions Jeanette Winterson has just claimed that Stephen
Hawkin has claimed that we can just go and colonize another planet, and
she infers that Stephen Hawkin thinks that it doesn't matter if trash
this one.
A misrepresentation?

i suspect not; she's certainly not the first to have accused him of
thinking that way.
i can't be absolutely certain since i've not read whatever it is he
wrote on the subject. the timescales are all wrong, anyway: by the
time we might have managed to develop interstellar flight, the
economic collapse deriving from global warming will have killed off
the development projects.
