Jeremy Vine dumbing down?
Topics for today -

"A girl of 18 who's had sex with more than 50 men."

"New immigration laws may cause a reduction in trained Indian Takeaway
chefs."

"We track down a Nazi war criminal - listen what happened when we confronted
him in the street"

Is the show now sponsored by the News Of The World!?

Doesn't sound too different from the usual JV content.

I really rather dislike JV's tone in his show. He sounds condescending and
patronising and it really gets on my nerves. He sounds much the same on
Panorama. It's just as well that I rarely listen in.

Here here, well said Andy! He is the main reason Ive switched back to R1
for lohg periods during the week now. Id say its virtually impossible to
dumb down his show anymore than it already is. I happened to read his
column yesterday in the Daily Mail (yes I know!!!.............but the wife
is collecting the Brideshead DVDs) and the article was all about internet
and face book/myspace etc so I risked having a read. Waste of time - just
more patronising dumbing down scaremongering..

Doubt it, but it sounds like the usual bilge. He started so
promisingly, and it went downhill quickly. He's a patronising,
condesending twat, and his program is obsessed by utter trivial
bullshit, like the Ghanaian student who is ill with cancer being
repatriated after overstaying an expired visa. It's wall-wall non-
stories, dressed up as important issues.

There's a definite pattern emerging here... :-)

Sponsored by BBC News & Current Affairs more like - two of those three
stories were effectively plugs for other programmes.

In fairness, these early weeks of the year must be a difficult time to
fill - but that sort of points up the main weakness of the format, in that
they need four things to fuss about every day. Anyone else hear Tim Vine
when he was on Popmaster a couple of months ago?

He toppled over when he let go of his zimmer-frame to give a Nazi
salute?

New member...

Just listened to today's... a piece about Italian life models striking for
better recognition. Vine's presentation carped on about who would pose nude
and why and the ulterior motives of some who join such classes. I mean...
grow up!

It was a dead weird show that one. Not so much that item itself as the fact
that they canned a pre-advertised item to rehash the recent murder trial.
Which is not necessarily that odd, but it's strange that the one they dumped
wasn't the relatively light and non-topical one about the life models. I
suppose nobody had anything interesting to say about renewing their vows.
