Aled Jones
Don't like him.
That is all.
D.
ps. Mainly because he sounds incredibly smug and full of his own self
importance when, really, all he ever did was sing the song from the Snowman,
and not even the version used in the movie.

Didn't he also sing the sig tune to Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy?

Hhhmmmm....I sort of agree. He was pretty good on Classic FM in a
similar time slot, but just doesn't seem to fit into R2.

Oh yes, best rendition of Nunc Dimittis by Geoffrey Burgon I've ever
heard. They DON'T make television series like that any more, and its
bugger all to do with the Cold War.

I avoid the R2 Sunday morning bible belt whenever possible, but I still
think Aled Jones is better than Don "God Love Ya" Maclean was. Maclean
always *sounded* like he was reading from a script, and even though he was
anyway, a decent presenter can make it sound like it's off-the-cuff.

I thought of the sig tune because I happen to have the DVD of TTSS. As a
bit of a completist, perhaps I also ought to get the sequel, Smiley's
People.

I personally didn't mind him over the New Year period. He seems to play some
good music, in fact if you did a blind presenter test with only the music
you'd have thought Mr Allinson was on the air! Maybe Richard Allinson's
producer was also selecting music and producing Aled's show?
I never liked Aled Jones when he first arrived at R2 and never listen to his
Sunday output but was pleasantly impressed at him when he stood in for Ken
B!
