It's quite an astonishing experience to have the alarm go off, hear
the last ten mins of Alex Lester, the news and then not cry, 'Oh FFS
shut up you wittering bint!' turn the radio off and get out of bed in
a bad mood. :-)

I have to say I am warming to Aled. He's not really my cup but he does
work in that tie slot and has a quiet wit. He really seems to be
finding his feet as a presenter in that slot.

Suppose we should make the most of him cos it will be two weeks of her
wittering about her holiday non stop when se gets back unless she hits
the bot...... gets neumonia again. :-)

It certainly sets a nice pattern. Two weeks illness, then two weeks
holiday. Repeated ad infiniturm, that should keep her off the air for most
of the year.

I'm not convinced about Aled Jones but he is indeed far preferable to SK.
And then of course, for this week at least, Johnnie Walker is on at 7.30.
Sets up the day nicely.

I have also been experimenting with 6Music when SK is on.

Me too (normally). I like Chris Hawkins a lot (I've always enjoyed him
sitting in for Janice Long, Alex Lester etc. on R2 overnights). I'm not sure
about Shaun Keaveney in that particular slot, though. I used to love him on
XFM in the drivetime slot but I only hear the first half hour of his
breakfast show, as I don't have a digital Walkman (and Wogan/JW are
calling!). Some people just fit in some time slots and not others. I always
hated DLT on the R1 breakfast show, yet loved it when he did the Saturday
and Sunday morning mid-morning shows.

Ah well I never liked him on that slot either, and I certainly didn't like
him when he did Breakfast for XFM, so I've never touched his 6Music show
with a barge-pole. I was quite annoyed that he joined about a week after I
bought a DAB radio.
