I think I read somewhere that the BBC where installing either new
hardware or complete servers for this service, something to do with
new encoding - can't remember if it's linked into the BBC iPlayer
launch.

I'm having no problem using the listen now or listen again facility other
than two pop up messages every time I use them, one saying they are having
problems and one telling me I haven't the right software or something, but
it plays fine!

What astonished me was that some listen live/listen again broadcasts are
actually relayed or recorded from analogue FM broadcasts - which led to much
amusement that you could get interference when listening online.

Noticed this a couple of times listening online to BBC Radio Oxford, and
queried it with them - they blamed the weather conditions for the poor FM
reception of the station at BBC Monitoring in Caversham!

I don't know if that is still the case, but it certainly was 12 months ago.
