Chart Commentary 6/1/07
The first one of 2007, and the last chart where downloads won't be
included as a matter of course.
Singles
-------
Leona still #1 by a huge margin, though no doubt on sales that have
dropped by a very large percentage.
NE's (incl.d/l climbers):
Iron Maiden #3, Sharam #8, David Gilmour #19, Big Bass #27.
Surprised that Eric Prydz didn't chart on downloads (just #77).
Far too many climbers to list.
Albums
------
Take That hold on at #1, but as expected, a lot of wild movement
elsewhere, due to post-Xmas sales.
No NE's of course - probably none until the 20th Jan chart.
Next Week
---------
Singles
-------
I can't see anyone shifting Leona yet, but lower down, with the new
chart rules kicking in, I don't think anyone really knows what to
expect!
Eric Prydz & U2 should benefit from CD releases, but they are the only
two singles I have listed for physical release.
As for downloads - I now have to scan weeks ahead, with no way of even
knowing when the download release date of the physical singles listed
are even happening.
Oh well, lets try anyway : Amy Winehouse, JoJo... OK, that looks like
the only two that may chart this long before physical release.
Albums
------
No new releases listed for 1st Jan, so the only question is whether TT
have enough momentum for another week at #1, or whether some sale-driven
album will prevail.
