Brand & Whiley circus - blight return
Ah, it's alright, we can relax!

The breaches committed by Russell Brand and Jo Whiley
over faked phone-in and SMS competitions exonerate the
media professionals involved.

What's interesting is that the BBC has declined to say if
they knew they were breaching the broadcasting codes.

Well, either Russell Brand is lying about staying clean and
really doesn't know what time or day it is, and the same
goes for Jo Whiley, a kind of chronological naivete perhaps,
or the BBC's radio arm has very seriously changed its policy
where show captaincy is concerned as all their DJs used to
be what's known as "self-employed", meaning they have a
legal and moral responsibility to know damn well what is and
what is not a breach of the codes they operate under--and
are paid commensurate.

What is reassuring is that they, thus far, seem to be one-offs
and also appear to reflect a genuine commitment within the
BBC to actively audit its conduct, even down to minute detail.
