OT : Straw Poll : singles chart - week beginning 22/10 (chart dated 3/11/07)
This will be by far the biggest week of the year for singles releases,
with 5 major contenders : Leona Lewis, Take That, McFly, Oasis & Britney
I'd be very surprised if the above 5 didn't occupy the top 5 slots, but
in which order?
My prediction :
1. Take That - Rule The World
2. Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love
3. Britney - Gimme More
4. McFly - The Heart Never Lies
5. Oasis - Lord Don't Slow Me Down [Download-only]
This doesn't reflect how I feel about the songs themselves
Feel free to add your own predictions, including songs not included in
the above.

Why would anybody buy a Leona Lewis single *now*?
She's missed the boat as regards capitalising on whatever
talent show it was she won, why wait so long to release
a new single?

I asked myself that 10 months ago. :)

Don't ask me.

I'd probably shuffle Oasis and McFly up one each, and push down Britney to
make room - especially with the hastened release date.

Nor me - I think if I had to pick a favourite from there it would be McFly,
and that's hardly their best work.

Why is the word "now" in that sentence? ;-)

As far as I know it's a deliberate strategy to try and make people take her
seriously instead of thinking of her as X-Factor Winner Leona.
Maybe they should have rigged it and made somebody else win so she could be
the new Lemar.

One that could very easily backfire.

He's even worse!

I figured that since she managed #3 in America, she could do at least
that well here - and don't forget get that Oasis are *download-only*.

My least-worst would be Britney, then Take That.

BTW, I'd like to alter my prediction slightly :
Just swap #1 & #2 around, no change otherwise.
Of course, given their continuing decent sales, the Sugababes may land
in the middle of this group somewhere - and it's very possible the
entire top 6 will sell over 30k, something that certainly hasn't
happened for several years.
Possibly the last instance was in Mar'04, when I know Kylie's 'Red
Blooded Woman' debuted at #5 on sales of around 37k - but I don't know
what the #6 sold that week.
