Chart Commentary 10/2/07
Singles
-------
As expected, Mika greatly increases his lead now his song is out on CD.
I'm going to try a new system for singles, putting genuine NE's(+)
(whether CD or download) in capitals, and climbers(*) in lower case.
(+) Coming from outside the top 40
(*) Not including rebounds, unless they are due to the CD just being
released.
Top 10 : Fall Out Boy #2, Bloc Party #4, Akon #9, Fray #10
Top 20 : Kelis #19
Top 30 : KASABIAN #22, Gwen Stefani #23, Gossip #25, LADY SOVEREIGN #26,
SOPHIE ELLIS BEXTOR #28, TAKE THAT #30
Top 40 : NAS #35, NELLY FURTADO #37, BEYONCE #39, BOWLING FOR SOUP #40
BTW, what's with the Fratellis re-entering at #41 & #43?
Albums
------
After trailing all week, Norah Jones put on a late spurt to claim the #1
spot - that's 3 out of 3 now :)
Nowhere near as emphatically as expected, though - just 60.5k, 3k ahead
of the Klaxons
Top 10 : Klaxons #2, Jamie T #4, Just Jack #6, Madonna #7
Top 20 : Shins #16, Josh Groban #17, Doris Day #20
Both of Norah Jones other albums re-entered the top 75, too. :)
Next Week
---------
Singles
-------
I can't see anyone mounting a significant challenge to Mika.
Top 10 : Kelis, SEB
Top 20 : Take That, Nelly F
Top 30 : Erick E, Beyonce
Top 40 : Jessica Simpson, Justin T, 2 Pac, Snow Patrol
Downloads : The Feeling, Ludacris, Snow Patrol, Kaiser Chiefs
Albums
------
Not easy to predict - could be any one of Mika, Bloc Party or Fall Out
Boy.
They are in fact the only 3 albums I can see as top 20 NE's.
