Chart Commentary 27/1/07 - camp replaces cheesy
Singles
-------
In a second consecutive close contest, Mika beat Just Jack to the #1
spot - all the more remarkable since JJ had the benefit of CD sales,
whereas Mika's sales were entirely download.
NE's (incl. d/l climbs)
Top 10 : View #3, JoJo #4, Ordinary Boys #7, Jamie T #9
Top 20 : Mason #11, Klaxons #14, Akon #16, Billie Piper #17, Good, the
Bad & the Queen #20
Top 30 : Guillemots #27, Fray #29
Top 40 : MCR #38
Outside the top 40, Survivor's golden oldie 'Eye Of The Tiger' re-enters
at #51, & the Jackson 5 at #53.
You can thank/blame Chris Moyles for the Billie Piper re-enter at #17
On a side issue, AFAICR JK & Joel made the first ever acknowledgement
that the chart extends beyond #75, when they mentioned a Huey Lewis
re-entry at #162 (Power Of Love).
Albums
------
No change at #1 - still Amy Winehouse.
No new albums in the top 20.
A number of significant climbs though - I guess a new sale must have
started last week. Beneficiaries include : Paul Weller, Queen, Ronan &
Abba
The post-Xmas new-album-drought should end next week though.
