They charge 33p per ticket, to cover actual costs, allegedly, of 2p.

According to EasyJet Ryanair is using its wheelchair levy to subsidise
fuel costs

i wasn't in charge of the booking (it was actually arranged by
microsoft, who were paying); i had been told that it was an easyjet
flight.

my only previous experience with ryanair was bad, too (the project
head decided we would fly to dublin with real airline on subsequent
trips).  however, it wasn't as bad as the stansted flight.
