The SW, of course.

Not sure to which character you are referring. The biggest idiot
I heard was a blatant sexist/chauvinist stereotype.

You mean the driving queen? Are you sure that wasn't an ageist stereotype? I
can imagine them writing an older male character in the same way. I can't
imagine them doing the same with a woman under er <plucks number out of mid
air> 60.

No that wasn't the character I meant.

This is starting to look like a quiz.

I expect you meant Joe, who is in danger of becoming involved in more

I'm assuming that the surname is Grundy but I can't decide between
Will or Ed, with both of them mooning over Emma.

Close enough. It's Willyum. Ed may be mooning but he is clear that he can't
go back. W OTOH seems to be looking for a rematch with a woman who has made
it unambiguously clear that she doesn't love him and doesn't want to live
the life-style of a gamekeeper's spouse.

Sadly, I don't think Ed is clear he can't go back. I think he is trying
not to notice that he wants to. After all, it was he who broke up with
Emma.

I think he knows really that he's far better off with Fallon but he
also knows that it's Emma that he really wants. I also got the strong
feeling that it's Ed that Emma wants.

With the twist that I don't think Will has got much chance of getting
Emma back (and wouldn't have, even if Ed wasn't around). That won't
stop him accusing Ed of stealing her again if she and Ed get together.

Do you think Ed broke with Emma? I thought she moved back in with Neil
and Susan and left him and he wasn't able to go home and Neil wanted
to sell the caravan so he had nowhere to live. Emmur didn't actually
break with him openly but seemed not to want to be with him, although
it was George's health partly which made her move indoors.

I think Emmur is bored with life and seeing who she can lure back into
her web. Or am I being unfair and she really does think she can have
a happy friendship with both brothers? She seemed unwilling to give
up on Ed. I wonder if she's pissed off because he was romancing
Fallon and they were able to have fun, which she was stuck with
George. I wonder if encouraging Will is intended to make Ed jealous.

But after Ed had disappeared and come back with his drink'n'drug
problem, Emma was very keen to pick things up again, and he would have
none of it - wanted to get on with his life.

Well, she kept insisting at the time that she was not breaking up with
Ed, but he insisted that her moving out of the caravan meant that she
must be.

I don't think Emmur is being that calculating. I think she really does
think she can remain friends with both brothers.
