YAdefinitelyNA. Mind you, it isn't just a recent phenomenon for me, _if_
someone connected with a news item makes a grammatical solecism (or,
occasionally, just a wrong [or sometimes even unusual] pronunciation): I
find myself thinking of an explanation of how and why what they said was
wrong, and by the time I've thought of it I've certainly missed a
sentence or two, if not as you say got onto the next item.
