Archer not moonlighting (Doctor Who spoiler for next week)
Apparently next week's Doctor Who episode will see the return of
Davros, the Daleks' coach and general manager. Sadly Davros will not
be played by Moike Tucker, who made the one-eyed megalomaniac's role
his own between 1984 (Resurrection of the Daleks) and 1988
(Remembrance of the Daleks). Instead the part is to be played by one
Julian Bleach, who, as far as I can tell, has never appeared in The
Archers at all.

But Mike didn't lose his eye until 1991.

I suspect that just as the Ring of the Niblungs gradually corrupted
whoever possessed it (now, there's an idea for an epic heroic
fantasy), so the chair of Davros gradually corrupted Moike, until the
one-eyed nature of Davros worked its way through into the alternative
universe that contains Bridge Farm yogurt.

Next time Hazel Woolley appears, keep an eye out for subtle references
to Raxacoricofallapatorian cultural norms slipping in to the
discussion of the future of Gay Grebles.

Hazel Woolley is associated with actress Annette Badland, who played
the role of Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day Slitheen in three Doctor Who
episodes. Blon Fel-Fotch Pasameer-Day, and indeed the entire Slitheen
family, were from Raxacoricofallapatorius, a paradise planet with
burgundy seas and four polar regions, where once the giant squirrel
like Barladootkaliumpetekshus Beast used to roam free.

Well, you did ask.

I cannot take any credit for it, except perhaps for the spilling.

And thanks for the answer! (It sounds to me as if it was influenced by
Douglas Adams - the bit about the grass is always greener, and the Great
Green Arkle-seizure, and the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal ... with
apologies if the above predated DNA, but I don't think so ...)

Being a bit more serious, reminds me - I'm seething at the recent
coverage of the behaviour of "Gay HIV-positive men" (apparently they
don't all use protection) - _without_ any mention at all of whether
"straight" HIV-positive men do. (Valid comment if they do, but not to
mention it is unforgivable.)

Meanwhile Doctor Who was moonlighting on R4 in Nebulous. Sadly that
was the last of the series. T'was definitely No.1 on my "Best Things
on Radio 4" list.

Anything else good on the horizon?

If I remember correctly, the cultural norm for a Raxacoricofallapatorian
when blending in on Earth, is noticed not much in what they say, but in the
other noises that they are apt to make.

He's been doing a lot of that lately. It was refreshing to have a properly
Scottish Andy Crawford in Dixon of Dock Green.

According to the Members News from RST he will be playing Hamlet in
London in December/January. There is a picture of him looking like
something by Caspar Friedrick. For those captivated by the follically
challenged there is a side helping of Patrick Stewart.

We acquired a 2 dvd set, BBC from the Radio Times, of David Tennant
reading The Resurrection Casket, a Dr Who story, which I enjoyed very
much. I'll be in the UK from tomorrow so if anyrat wants to email I'd
be happy to send it to them. I'll take it with me in case.

I had it on my MP3 and took it for walks, and it turned out the last 8
bits hadn't been put on it and just at a cliff hanger I had to wait
until I got home and put the rest on.
