Listening to the Saturday play (Beat the Dog in His Own Kennel) I thought I
detected the dulcet tones of Brenda Tucker. The only female in the fairly
useless cast list on the web page is Sarah Amy Shindler. Brenda Tucker's
close friend is Amy Shindler - presumably the same actress.

I think you'll find that the cast list would have been clearer had it 
said something like:

Sarah ... ...  Amy Shindler.

Indeed, I realised just how useless it was a little after I posted that
when I caught the character's name.
