Ask EU - extracting rtsp streams from Real Player
As a general rule I find it impossible to find the BBC on-line county
cricket commentaries on my Reciva Internet Radio. I have previously
gotten around this by extracting the rtsp stream from Real Player and
putting that into "My Streams" at Reciva, and then rebooting the
radio.

But since last summer Real Player has been updated and although there
is a menu item (File>Clip Properties>Clip Source) it doesn't seem to
do anything, so I cannot find the rtsp address.

Can any umrat recommend a way that I can get at the information I am
after? Putting the http address of the .ram file into the Reciva
portal doesn't appear to work.

The beebotron at http://beebotron.timeforabrew.com/ has rtsp links for all
the live streams as well as direct links to all Listen Again programmes.

Thanks for that, which would be perfect if I was after a National
station feed, but what I am after is a BBC local radio feed, and not
necessarily the one that is being broadcast on the air - currently it
is coming from Radio Leicester (Radio Leeds are supposed to be
providing coverage that is somewhat less biased towards Leicestershire
but I can't even find a .ram file for that.)

I have solved the problem that I originally set myself, by saving the
.ram file and then opening it in Notepad and cutting and pacing the
rtsp url from there, which is a bit of a faff.

Glad you found the solution. Basically, that's what you have to do!

Not sure if I've understood the question, but I grab .ra files for
later converting to mp3 by using Flashgot (a firefox addon) and flash
get. Flasgot asks me what I wantto do with the file andgivesa choice
(Mediaplayer classic, Flashget, umm some others). You might be able to
get ot to point to your Reciva.

Or install Real Alternative and click the button marked "Listen via
standalone player" and point _that_ at Reciva.

I understand very little of what's being discussed
but for some reason it's fascinating.

That's exactly what you need to do, inspect the contents of the .ram
file. That can be done exactly as you have, or by entering the http
address of the .ram file into your browser and using View Source. At least
if you use Firefox with the RealPlayer plugin (otherwise you might get
just a "Save As" dialog, so no View Source possible).
