Conrad Black is going on trial this week in federal court.
He's the corrupt former CEO of a $2B NeoCon Media empire, the
Sun-Times Media network, formerly Hollinger International.
Black, a member of the UK's House of Lords says that this is
simply an effort by "government zealots" to "smear his name"
because he's a "freedom fighter".
Problems with the news agencies began when the Lord saw revenue
for the various news agencies began dropping in response to his
increased use of biased, partisan, in lieu of true journalism.
Reporters left for other companies, as did advertisers. But
instead of fixing the companies, he looted them by granting his
wife and himself lavish perks - including shopping sprees and a
private jet.
Mr. Black's newspapers began failing as he published glowing
reports of Bush and Blair's War Against Islam. That betrayal of
journalistic integrity coupled with obvious corporate waste,
began the a cycle of reporters and advertisers abandoning the
organization.
The attorney who is prosecuting the case is Patrick Fitzgerald
of Chicago.
Go, Patty, go!
