It's NOT fair!!! I'm a journalist and haven't got a job...
This last week our local rag has run a story which
probably didn't get syndicated. For copyright, and
other, reasons, I've decided to precis/parody it rather
than post it as published:
I went to University and I studied media and journalism
and they told us there was going to be a lot of jobs
and there was a need for us and that it was really
really difficult and that we were really really good and
there's only one person off our whole course who's
got a job and I don't think it's fair.
I was wondering whether any of the, until recently
practising and experienced, hundreds of print-sector
workers with time on their hands whose combined
years of experience must add up to longer than the
Universe has been around, according the Templar
Gospel of Masonic doctrine, could break off from
contemplating how much longer their redundancy
cheques will last to offer some words of condolence
to the recent graduates? or is Private Eye just lying
about the extent of editorial downsizing over the
last years or so?
The only feedback I could offer was that "HIGNFY"
has featured a comprehensive range of specialist
trade titles but that it's something of a challenge
to write for and about any given sector without any
relevant experience in it.
I am a little surprised that recent graduates could
be so unaware of the reported sea-change in the
news sector which, in all fairness, has been
represented as catching a lot of people off guard.
