RE: Mohammed Cartoon Controversy

It's all relative: Relative to Islamic societies YES.
But, relative to monkeys and others of our cousins:
MAYBE (some say maybe yes, others say, don't kid
yourselves).

I personally don't know a single atheist. Nor do I
believe it's possible for there to be one (no matter
what people who call themselves atheists without
really ever having looked into the matter tell you):
It's in the way reality works and how the brain has
evolved to deal with that reality:
Ours is an absolutely deterministic reality (no matter
what quantum mechanics aficionados may tell you), in
which there can NEVER be an uncaused effect.
Therefore, there is no free will & all that rubbish,
only the mental delusion that there is a free will.
The brain does not perceive this truth because reality
is too complex for it to "see" every last little cause
of every last little effect. But it perceives enough
of it that it would be able to suspect the truth and
probably go mad (break down, like mine did and now
YOURS will too, ha,ha,ha,ha,ha!). So, to save itself,
the brain creates the delusion that there is free
will, and that those parts of reality which it sees
that it self-evidently cannot affect it can still
affect via some GOD or other which brain CAN affect
(and, of course, we can always then pretend we can
affect such a GOD via some prayer, such as: "Common,
babe, I really need that 7" or some bargain, such as:
"You know I've been good").
As a side-effect of this schizophrenia, the brain has
evolved "a running conversation sort of thinking"
(such as: "Hello, brain, do you remember where I put
that pen? Hello... brain!" "Oh, I'm sorry, were you
talking to me?" I have a terrible memory). Which is
why we "talk with God" and why, in some people God
actually talks back to them (when this finely-tuned
system has a glitch... unless we're just talking about
cons who tell us that God talks to them... and is
telling them that he wants everyone to give them their
money so they can build the house of the Lord, Hal le
Luya, and a 20 million dollar mansion next to it where
the con men can live in order to be close to GOD).
Of course, this is all the fault of our genes, who
couldn't care less how terrible we poor animals have
it as long as they can continue their pointless
existence at our expense! I blame the genes.

Ah! The old saving the baby by throwing him out with
the bath water strategy. Ah, yes. Neat, but, in my
opinion, "life is to be lived." It is too precious...
it's ALL there is (in fact), and I'd hate to have to
live it according to the rules set up by baboons. This
is the great thing about Western Civilization: It's
not that we don't have rules here. It's that we've
struggled and bled and died for countless centuries
in order to achieve a bit of freedom from the baboons
(while in the Islamic world you struggle and bleed and
butcher to keep the baboons your overlords).
It would be a shame if all the efforts that have gone
to produce Western Civilization went to waste, and we
were to go back to being ruled by the baboons. A damn
shame! They'd probably burn down all the museums &
beautiful things of art (like Ayatollah Khomeini, when
he tried to burn down Persepolis, et al). No more
Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Shakespeare, Michelangelo...
I just don't want to live in a world were monks walk
about in endless rows chanting "Hummm!" from the
cradle to the grave. (Or whatever it is the pious
chant in religious societies to fill the void where
the full blossoming of their humanity should ripen.)
Here in this (perhaps but only momentary) Western
Civilization a human being has the best opportunity
yet offered in all of human history to live his or her
life according to the dictates of his/her own
tastes/judgments... and not according to the dictates
of baboons or other primitive apes/monkeys who might
have come up with perfectly reasonable savage norms
for their own primordial culture, but which norms are
unreasonably savage for us now.
I have enjoyed these sweet fruits of my ancestors'
sacrifices, and I hope some future generations of man
may yet still manage to do the same... before humanity
goes mad and enslaves itself in the name of devotion.

'ere, don't run away so fast--you'll kill yourself!
Actually, it appears that A LOT of what sparked the "outrage"
(most of which is really a hypocritical excuse for hate-mongering
against non-Muslims---even the dopey Danes, who pour millions of
their hard-earned Euros into Islamic causes every year, and will
probably now feel they need to waste more), the "outrage" was NOT
caused just by the 12 cartoons originally published in Denmark
(which are rather mild stuff, for the most part) but probably mostly
by the 3 "cartoons" which European Imams added to them when they
spread word of them across the Islamic lands. You can all read it all

Demagogue Staged Arab Riots
"Mr Bush, you see what happens if you make me give my people
democracy? It is better to pay me to keep them under control."
Unfortunately, we have the same experience inside the USA with
"leaders" who keep various ethnic groups from learning English or
becoming citisens, because reapportionment depends on body count, not
actual voters, and noncitisens can't vote, hence don't threaten the
status quo.
(1) Josephus relates how once during a Passover celebration, a
Roman soldier standing on exterior temple walls exposed himself to the
Passover crowds, thereby causing a riot. As a result a massacre ensued
as Roman legionnaires attempted to restore order (Ant. 20.5.2; 104).
(2) Mayor Rudolph Giuliani is pledging to cut $7 million in city
funds if Brooklyn Museum goes ahead with the.. exhibition includes a
depiction of Mary along with shellacked clumps of elephant dung and
two dozen cutouts of buttocks from pornographic magazines.
(3) In 1991, footage of Rodney King being beaten by four police
officers.. Autumn 1991, the lenient sentence handed to a
Korean-American convenience store assistant convicted of shooting dead
a young black woman.. spark came in April 1992, when all four officers
in the Rodney King case were cleared of assault. Within hours,
violence erupted across the country's black neighbourhoods.
(4)Egyptian weekly Roz Al-Yusuf, August 24, 1998
"A reliable source at the Arab League provided details of the
report circulated by the League to its member states warning of
imported blood units contaminated with the AIDS virus, hepatitis
and bilharzia. They were manufactured by an Austrian company and
Israel treated the blood units before they were sent to Arab"
(5) Egyptian daily Al-Akhbar, July 14, 1998 "Zionism has elevated
the Holocaust to a sacred level and uses it for the purposes of
blackmail... even if the ovens at Buchenwald and Auschwitz were
working day and night, it would have taken dozens of years to kill six
million"
(6) Egyptian daily Al-Ahram, February 2, 1998 "There are no
findings to indicate the existence of mass graves, because the size of
the ovens makes it impossible for many Jews to have been killed
there. According to the lists presented by the Soviets to the Germans,
no more than 70,000 Jews were registered as having been at Auschwitz."
