Hi
Looking for an LCD TV with the following as basic requirements - I was 
looking at the WHICH site but they don't allow you to see their recommended 
products without stumping up some cash (spose I'll bu ythe magazine tomorrow 
then).

1) Must have a connection to connect up a PC (VG A or DVI) for a HTPC

2) 28 inch

3) Decent speakers as we wont have surround system but we dont go THAT loud 
anyway.

4) Budget of around £500-600

5) Most importantly it must be HD ready for both 720 and 1080 and possibly 
1080p. But most of our viewing is on SD TV so its essential it doesn't look 
crap on SD TV like i see so many TVs do!

6) Less is more - prefer a think bezel and a plainer colour (silver 
preferably)

7) Prefer to buy it from a 'proper' shop like Richer Sounds/ Argos/John 
Lewis....also with a decent warranty.


Am I right i nthinking like montiors a 28inch will give a little extra 
viewing space over a standard 28inch CRT? If so a 26inch LCD may do if it 
matches a 28inch CRT.

You cannot get a 1080p (Full HD) 28" LCD.  37" is the smallest.

too much choice - not helped by manufactuers continually releasing new 
models and using crappy naming conventions.

there's no physical reason (unlike with plasma) why you can't have a 1080p 
small screen - after all you can buy laptops with 1920x1200 screens that are 
15 inches.

Still a complete waste of time having a 1080p screen smaller than 40" 
anyway - you will not be able to tell the difference.

Not if you are using it for PC use , when the extra desktop area is very 
handy

too much choice - not helped by manufactuers continually releasing new 
models and using crappy naming conventions.

there's no physical reason (unlike with plasma) why you can't have a 1080p 
small screen - after all you can buy laptops with 1920x1200 screens that are 
15 inches.

Still a complete waste of time having a 1080p screen smaller than 40" 
anyway - you will not be able to tell the difference.

Not if you are using it for PC use , when the extra desktop area is very 
handy
