OT: High Def TV's
Looking for some advice... Looking to replace a 26" CRT with a 32" plus
Widescreen TV.

But is it just me, or are all these so called HD TV's just not up to the
job when compared to a CRT?

I plugged my BluRay player into the old CRT and it looks pretty
impressive. Plus the sound is nice and bassy thanks to the big frame. No
flaws, unless you count the lack of high def.

Im sure the bigger LCD widescreen 1080p will be impressive, but then we
think about the draw backs...

First I hear that 24p can be jittery, but Smooth Film technology gives
you a HandyCam effect. Surely the idea of "Smooth Film", artificially
increasing the number of frames kind of defeats the object of 24p?

Then of course you have all the additional additives that I can't figure
out what they do apart from artificially adjusting the picture to
something not genuine.

I don't get it. Why doesn't a TV just work, and again, what features do
I need?

Do I need to worry about:

     * 24p
     * 24p Smooth Film
     * Deep Colour
     * x.v. Colour
     * Colour Matrix Arrangement
     * Active Colour Enhancer
