Newbie query: monthly payment - is this a flat rate?
At the moment I have plain old dial-up and I am thinking of finally changing
to broadband.

Let's say I have found a broadband rate of £15 per month - does this mean
that I pay £15 outright as opposed to paying £12 for dial-up plus £x
everytime I connect to the Internet?

I'm sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question but the various FAQs
I've come across don't make it that clear.

Thank
Stephen.

Yup, that's about it.

No worries - good luck.

That may not be true it depends how much you download check the
adverts. Some offer unlimited but a lot in the small print say for £15
you only get 2 gig download a month so if you go over that you may be
charged extra or you may be cut back. www.plus.net offer 5gig for
£14.99 and 30 gig is £21 all on 2 meg free setup and modem but with
them you get 250 meg webspace and newsgroups. If you sign up with them
it asks for a refer put in mwright

When I change from Demon dial-up to Demon Home Office the cost
appeared to be double. For dial-up I was paying for Surftime and
getting stung with hundreds of dial-up connection charges. I canceled
Surftime and with broadband there are no connection charges so the
cost works out lower than dial-up.

Demon Home Office is an excellent and it still has a usenet service.
You'll find most of the cheap broadband services do not include
usenet.
