I remember, many years ago now, trying to tell my boss that 5.25" floppy disks
were round. He held one up and said "look, it's *square*".

I used to have a triangular vinyl record. And one shaped like a
goldfish bowl...

I may still have a few odd shaped vinyl records myself. I also recall
seeing some odd shaped CDs including some mini-CDs with straight edges cut
in them top and bottom on one software distribution years ago. I think it
was something CA were flogging.

At my very first anime convention, it took me two days to summon up
enough courage to ask one of the dealers what the little things that
looked bookmarks appeared to be. Turned out they were Japanese mini-CD
singles.

that they were the *cases*, insides of which were dinky little CDs.
