Someone Is Taking The Piss
In the post this morning is a bit of junk mail from a company telling me how
much I can cut my energy bills by installing their Solar Energy System.
Have they looked out of a window recently .... where the *%^# am I supposed
to get the bloody solar from? I'd be better off buying a ruddy water wheel
or a wind turbine!!!

A pity there isn't a device for generating electricity from burning
junk mail?

I know it's just a GOM Friday rant Dave but solar panels are so good now
that you can generate power from just about any level of light. It
doesn't have to be Sahara-level sunshine.

Yeh, I know Jon ;o) I was ranting about the weather more than anything
else. Part of my back lawn is literally under water today. What ever
happened to the glorious September the weathermen were talking about just a
few weeks ago?

It's time like these I'm glad I live at the top of a hill.....
The walk up it can be a bit of a bugger though.

We'll all blame you then. Not at work! What's the country coming to?

I think I must have Jonah living next to me. Even my doves have left the
garden today. Not sure when we'll ever see dry land again!

Not (yet) in a way that would give you a sensible payback time with this
sort of light level.

Part of your back lawn is under water?
(Cue Four Yorkshiremen mode)
You don't know when you're lucky.
I had to catch the train home from Edinburgh this (Saturday) morning.
My train, the 10.00 from Edinburgh, was cancelled - overhead lines
down at Berwick, flooding at Northallerton. I got on the 10.30 (a
diesel, ex Aberdeen), along with the folk waiting for the 09.30, which
had also been cancelled. So there were three trainloads of passengers
on the 10.30. And then it ground to a halt a few miles short of
Berwick. We eventually crawled on through there and to Newcastle.
Extra stops, more folk getting on at each.
And on to Northallerton (very slowly). Eastern track under deep
flowing water. It was invisible - I had a window seat on that side of
the train. Single line working on the western track. By the time the
train reached York (where, fortunately, people started getting off),
it was 2.5 hours late. I eventually reached King's Cross three hours
behind schedule.
I'm just glad of my habit of going first class on holiday. Folk were
standing in my coach by the time we reached Alnmouth, so I hate to
think what it was like in second between Newcastle and York.
Peter.

There was probably plenty of lap dancing going on and they had a lot more
fun than you did. ;o)

Thanks for the thought, Dave. Knowing my luck, though, my lap-dancer
would be male (I'm male and heterosexual), older than me (I'm about
50), bald, sweaty, with about three days' stubble and double my weight
(as admitted elsewhen on this NG, I'm overweight).
I still think I was better off where I was!
Peter.
