Law can change - but it would be a strange government indeed that allowed
harmful drugs free use by every Tom, Dick and Harry.

All of which you can't wait to drink, smoke, inject, right?

People who merely use drugs generally wait to use them
Kendall, however people who are addicted may hurry to a safe venue
to use the same drugs.

Oh, sure. I'm right at this moment heating up a chain saw in a spoonful
of water so I can draw it into my works and "chain up" before starting my
day!

What a maroon!

Why is it not strange for government to allow potentially harmful
noningestables free use by every Tom, Dick and Harry, but it would be
strange for government to allow potentially harmful ingestables free
use by every Tom, Dick and Harry?

If you don't like being mocked over the red herrings you introduce, then
leave them out.

But the government does *not* allow free use: look at that chain saw and
observe the warning about the age at which it can be bought and used.

Nobody is arguing for drugs to be sold freely to children.

The same applies to some drugs. Warnings on cigarette packs and age
restricted to over-18s.

So you agree that it would not be strange for government to allow
potentially harmful ingestables free use by every ADULT Tom, Dick and
Harry?

Certainly - provided these putative adults use the potentially harmful
ingestables in a responsible way. For example, by using alcohol as a
disinfectant. When, instead, the supposed adult drinks the stuff, he or she
is clearly showing that he has a long way to grow up.

If that's your requirement then your chainsaw example was a lie, as
there is no such restriction on chainsaw sales. Don't lie, Kendall ...
it clearly shows that you have a long way to grow up.
