music venues
Anyone have a list of venues in Stoke where live bands play nowadays?
I haven't been in touch with the live music scene for a while, and wondered
where
the bands from the 60-80's etc gig nowadays.

I think gig is the correct terminology ?? ;-)

Ah I remember the Tiger Moth...

Haven't been to see much live music - I tend to prefer to play and there
is quite a lively folk/accoustic scene going on. I was at the Crown at
Red Street last night in fact.

The Old Brown Jug is good. Blues-ish on Sundays, Jazz on Wednesdays.
Mick Gilicker is still doing a bit, saw him at the jug. Les hunt does a
blues duo thing with Colin Cooper when they aren't out with Climax. Oh
and I ran into John Askey today. He still does a bit, but just on his
own.

Don't see much of my old band(s) members. Sadly some are no longer with
us.

Hi Geoff
Nice to know you are still with us - The only contact I have with Folk &
Country is on Radio 2, Oh yes & 3C
Mick Gilicker Colour Supplement fame??
Don't think I ever met Les Hunt, I met a Les Hall ;-) I know Colin Cooper &
Johnny Askey of course
I think we all need to meet up before it's too late !!!!

It may be a good idea to get someone to post venues on here on a weekly
basis?
Sorry I'm too busy with my website ;-)

Yes the Tiger Moth Geoff - I remember that place tooooooooo

What about The Bulls Head? What was that other small Pub in the Meir??
Used to play their as Tapestry (Rob Rushton)
Also the Grosvenor (Burslem) now were going back a bit!

The guy who does the 'rock show' (?) on Radio Shropshire (is it also on
Stoke?) is always on about folks 'playing live'.

Sunday night 5 till 7 IIRC

Nor me. I just had this crazy idea you might actually speak to him in
real life.
