Check out your MP
Don't know how many have discovered this one:

http://www.theyworkforyou.com/

They will send you a reference every time your MP speaks in the house
so that you can see what s/he is doing for their (your) money.

My local MP has recently asked questions about North Sea fishermen and
Tibet nothing relevant to Stoke though. If you have not seen it, it
is very interesting.

I have email messages when Paul Farelly says anything. I don't get them
very often...:-(

You can also use http://www.writetothem.com/ to send messages to your MP
However, after using this service twice, I've yet to have a response.

I think that http://www.theyworkforyou.com/ have a similar service and
check with you that you have received a reply after a couple of weeks.
If you have not they add your result to a league table that shows up
which MPs answer their letters and those that do not consider
constituents important enough to respond to (until there is an
election pending of course).

What do you expect to happen and if nothing is happening here where is
all the action?

There was a time when Stoke was in radical ferment. I think the
chartists did well here and there was a time when a mob burned down
the Lord Mayors house in Shelton.

I will grant you now there is little interest in anything because we
have no say. The unique system on local government in Stoke means
that council officers dictate (I use my words advisedly) what goes and
our so called elected representatives just stand by. Mind you even
before the current system was established they didn't do much except
waste money.
