The base is made of highest quality pine and the mattress supported on slats.

It is not your usual bed with four legs, the base consists of four boards of pine
(nicely finished and polished) joined at right angles. It makes for a useful storage space if you want to hide away your things. 

We still have the mattress which comes with it free.
