ALASTAIR DALTON TRANSPORT CORRESPONDENT

NETWORK Rail yesterday warned that a new line between Edinburgh and
Glasgow will be delayed by MSPs' calls for the number of stations to
be doubled so that their constituents do not miss out.

Parliamentarians with constituencies along the route of the
Airdrie-Bathgate line are anxious that residents are not left
without a station when the £340 million scheme opens in 2010.
