I believe the woodlands at the pillar are private. However in April ish,
when the Brocklesby Hunt hold a jump X competition they open it up and
charge £1 or so to climb to the top.

There's issues of poaching, as well as the much hacked-about law on
trespass (think raves), so things can get messy if you did just try to
walk up to the place. But it's easy enough to ask, especially if you
have some sort of reason. There are several events on the estate, and
the Mausoleum is open for one of them, so it's worth asking when there
are open days for the Pillar.
