Where to buy a PC ?
I have a friend who wants a new complete pc system, around £400
but does NOT want Vista, he wants XP.
Making enquiries a sales assistant at PC World curtly told me that all
their systems come with Vista, Comet are stating the same on their website,
so where can he buy a good pc of known and proven make and have the OS
of his choice ?
It seems the big retailers are all geared up to persuade us all to dance to
Microsoft's tune,
and are not prepared to offer the individual a choice.

look at www.misco.co.uk, their Acer machines are OK, you'll need a
monitor as well but I'd expect the whole lot to come in under £450.

XP still advertised on Dell's website :-

http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?b=&c=uk&cs=ukdhs1&kc=D4XESS01&l=en&oc=D115008XP&rbc=D115008XP&s=dhs&~ck=expbuy3

Dunno if they really still do it - just found it on their site. I have a
couple of Dells - more than happy with them
