police ? contains swear words
When I was growing up in the 60's we had a lot of respect for our local
bobby and we did fear them for the authority they had and used (usually
fairly).

In the 70's as teenagers we thought it real cool to refer to them as "pigs"
and "The filth" etc but deep down I think we still had a respect, and anyway
it was just a generation thing and every teenage generation had done the
same from the year dot !!

But now....it appears that our police get very little (or none) respect from
all generations. Is it the police that changed or the public?

Of course its the police that have changed ...........they turned into
"traffic" police and the civil police as we knew it is just about gone now .
The last couple of problems I've had have been sorted out with timber, due
to having NO confidence that the police will serve justice. Different point
though for another day.

In my job I return home in the very early hours and during the day, my hobby
is motorcycles, both of which seem to bring me into contact with the police
on a regular basis in the early hours because "I am probably drunk" although
I am teetotal and during the day because motorcyclists are always an easy
nick due to the government constantly changing laws on exhausts etc (very
hard to keep up and so therefore legal) without making it public knowledge.

On the many occasions that I have been breathalysed, ( and never nicked for
the so-called "offence that I committed" in order to warrant the initial
stop) the police officer has suddenly got the right steaming hump on seeing
the negative result....should that not be happy to see I am sober ? Well
apparently not! NO results for the police there.

I have actually heard (from a police officer in Doncaster) "well that's
going nowhere fast.right fuck off then I'm busy" !!!!!! Took me by surprise
anyway.

The police have now taken to being "biker's friends" at bike meets doing a
pr job etc and asking if you have any problems and is there any questions
you would like to ask.... whilst at the same time checking the machines on
the national computer and looking for illegal number plates and exhaust
systems.

My exhaust system is actually illegal (although what harm is beyond me) yet
when the police check it.... it has the right numbers printed on it to be
legal... so the harm is obviously beyond them too.. So therefore making the
exhaust issues just one more source of revenue for the government or
otherwise the "harm" would be obvious.wouldn't it?

In December 2006 I was returning home from Norfolk when I was stopped (1 car
in front and 1 car blocking my vehicle from behind) by police after "an
anonymous call from a member of the public" and asked if I had been drinking
to which I obviously replied No at which point I was informed that the
police officer "will be the judge of that" but they didn't have a
breathalyzer kit and so sent for a 3rd car to attend. I now had 6 police
officers at 1.30 am attending the possibility that I may be drunk although
I am teetotal and had informed the officers of this whilst standing NOT
smelling of alcohol.

The test was negative and I then asked if I could ask a question to which
one officer replied "yes? "

I asked "If I had been stealing property from someone, would I have had SIX
police officers on me in less than two minutes? "

A large bald police officer then leaned right into my face and growled "don't
even fucking go there mate. I'm not in the mood"

Never remember that kind of attitude (or foul language) from police years
ago

On returning home I emailed Norfolk police and asked the same question

Two days later I received a reply ( IN PINK) asking if it was for
information only or did I actually want something done about it and if so
let us know, which I did and am still looking forward to my next PINK reply
, we're in June now ! Two minutes to attend a possible traffic offence..six
months (and counting) to investigate a complaint.Hmmm

I am sure that more and more people are coming into contact with our police
on a daily basis due to them wanting to use a vehicle for work or pleasure
and therefore making themselves an easy target for prosecution.where will it
end?

Well, they've got your IP now so I'd be prepared for a knock on the door
early tomorrow morning..

But yes, we live in changing times. They say you get the government that
you deserve. Perhaps the same is true of their footsoldiers.

Still, if I become a victim of crime at least I know this brave new world
will supply me with all the counselling I could ever need. Sadly, I'm a
remnant of the old world, where you actually were encouraged and allowed
to develop inner resources and sort your own problems.

Must remember to pick up a new 2x4 tomorrow..
