SCAM -beware!
Got this message from my Neighbourhood Watch people:

"This is a warning to all members,

Can you circulate this around especially as Christmas is fast approaching -
it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. The Trading Standards Office are making
people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel
Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). DO
NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize.

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £15 for the phone call."

I think one of us is being obtuse and I'm afraid it might be me -however,
the point I'm making is that the current lot of e-mails are either a hoax
(for whatever reason people start these hoaxes) or have been started by
someone who is very, very, very out-of-date. There was a scam involving
PDS, but it was closed down in 2005.

I circulated it in good faith. Perhaps I should have included the
introduction which said that there are several scams of this nature doing
the rounds at the moment. In fact I had one myself 6 months ago. I had a
message left on my answer phone telling me there was a parcel to collect and
would I ring this number. It didn't sound right to me, when I checked it out
it was a scam.

Sorry, my comment about obtuseness was in response to Manky's post; I wasn't
suggesting that you were obtuse, nor that you acted in anything but good
faith.
