"Friends Reunited"?
No thanks! Just had an email from that lot informing me that some
"friends" have just been added to my list! I couldn't remember even
joining but apparently I did in a drunken stupor a few years ago.
So I took a look. It goes back 50 years! I couldn't remember any of them.
Primary school, secondary school, college, and work, only recognised one
name. The "shy" ones left their "profile" blank. Wtf did they subscribe to
it then was my first thought until I realised I'd also left my profile
blank. The more extrovert had posted photographs of themselves looking
"interesting" or "happy". All they looked was very old! For some reason
these extroverts had left notes like "happily divorced" , yes they really
did, and "still happily married", "still working" or the best of all,
"still living in Sittingbourne"! Everything was "still"! Still living in
Sittingbourne! Lol, poor sods!
There seems to be a new fashion afoot. Look back, not forward. And I
thought I was getting old! I don't understand it. Is it because the
internet has stopped people making real life friends that the only thing
left for them is to drag some geriatrics back from the past? Take my word
for it, don't look or go back, it never works! Tomorrow is always a better
day!

About 15 years ago, I had the opportunity to spend 3 months in the UK
seconded to NCIS (not really of any significance to the thread - but I was
just tooting my horn).
Anyway - I decided to go down to Lydd and look up this person that I had
lusted after as a young lad. I found out where she lived, went to the door
and knocked.
It was opened by someone's Grandmother - farking hell!!!!!!!
You're right - Don't go back - let the memories remain just that.

I must be the lucky one, I met my partner through friendsreunited, not that
I was looking but he was the brother of my first proper boyfriend (and they
were neighbours) and I got on so well with him. Emailed him (and his
brother), he responded (after about 3 months!!) and the rest is well....
history. :-)
