Oldham riots inspire film
http://www.theasiannews.co.uk/entertainment/arts/s/1020366_oldham_riots_inspire_film
A FILM devised by and starring the people caught at the centre of the
Oldham riots is to be premiered next month.
Heart of the Park was filmed in the Hathershaw and Fitton Hill areas of
the town and brings together young people from an array of backgrounds.
The film aims to show how regeneration is helping bring changes in
attitude, six years after some of Britain's worst rioting in recent
years.
In Heart of the Park, the carnival is cancelled, community trust is at
rock bottom and a park has become a playground for drug dealers, young
drinkers and dark happenings.
Into the fray enters Elle, a young girl who is determined to bring light
and hope to diverse cultures.
Elle is played by 16-year-old Stacy Adams, of Hathershaw.
She said: "Elle is quite a rebellious teenager and her step-father is
quite racist but then she meets this Asian lad.
"I live in Hathershaw and I think the film's true to life because I've
got some friends that have been in my position where they've been out
with Asian people. I get my ideas from them and their experiences.
"I think the film will be good for the community when people see it. And
I can't wait for the premiere."
Muhit Choudhury plays T-Bone, Elle's boyfriend.
Muhit said: "He's a gangster who sells weed and stuff, and makes someone
die. It wasn't that easy to play but I've
enjoyed it.
"The film has brought people together."
Filmed in Oldham's newly refurbished Alexander Park, it was commissioned
by New Deal for Communities a 10-year project to regenerate Hathershaw
and Fitton Hill and produced by community media company REELmcr.
REELmcr's Jacqui Carroll said: "We've worked with some very special
people who just want to get on with their lives.
"This area has suffered so much since the riots and from a lot of
unwanted media attention. In our film the communities come together to
be heard."
Graham Bowman, young people's development coordinator at New Deal, said:
"This wasn't just another film project {ndash} for many it was a
life-changing experience."
The premiere of Heart of the Park will be at 7.15pm on November 9, at
Smokies Hotel Park, Ashton Road, Oldham.

In Oldham, as in Blackburn, Bradford, etc, it was recently reported
that Asian males were exclusively preying on young white girls and
grooming them for sex and prositution, or just straight out gang
raping them.
One has to wonder if a film which promotes the scenario of "Asian male
getting the white girl" is really the kind of subject matter to
improve community relations.

50% of the members of the ethnic minorities born here marry outside their
ethnic group.

You are incredibly desperate if you choose to use that book as a source for
factual information, it is one of the most absurd collection of misleading

Full of interesting stuff.
The problem is you almost haemorrhage from boredom when you try and read it.
It's a view of the UK you could only find in the mind of a senior official
somewhere in the upper reaches of the Home Office.
But it has some interesting statistics in it that nobody has successfully
challenged so far.
That what makes it useful.

And that judgement isn't a mere opinion?. Sorry old son but despite the
faults of officialdom, I think that HMSO has somewhat more value than an
idea off the top of your head.

HMSO are not responsible for accuracy. The book is littered with errors, and

Perhaps it is but I bet that it is far more researched and arguable than
opinions off the tops of heads with no real access to the data.

No doubt there are those here that remember this story much better than I, but a
decade or so ago, a sikh girl was raped by a muslim. The elders found out who
the rapist was, brought him to the local square and publicly castrated him. So
I heard, there were no muslims raping sikhs after that.......
No doubt that is just sooooooo over the top................ :-)

Quotation from ACC in charge:
"Offenders can and do come from a variety of cultural backgrounds," says
Cunningham, "and we deal with each case on its own individual merit." He
says he is not aware of "any accusations of racism from the accused or their
respective communities".

A rather nasty gang rape.
So far little or no evidence of organised gangs of white slavers.
The singular of data is not anecdote...

As well as simple opportunism, pimping of white females by black and
ethnic-minority men can be a type of revenge against whites. My
parents ran a grocery shop, says Hussein, who admits to being part of
the pimping gangs in the late 1990s. They had hardly any money, even
though they worked their backsides off. White people treated them like
shit, like they were their servants. Hussein says he took great
pleasure in having young white girls at his beck and call, knowing
their parents would be out of their minds with worry.

The singular of 'data' is not 'anecdote'.
The excuses of criminals are not usually of any interest to anyone.
This particular nasty piece of work is obviously trying to 'play the race
card' in a desperate attempt to get his sentence reduced.
