Rapist could have sentence increased
http://www.theasiannews.co.uk/news/s/1019755_rapist_could_have_sentence_increased

A MAN jailed for six years for leading the gang rape of a 12-year-old
girl could have his sentence increased.

The Attorney General, Baroness Scotland, has said the sentence was
`unduly lenient' and has referred the case to the Court of Appeal
following lobbying from Manchester Central MP Tony Lloyd.

Shakil Chowdhury, 39, was jailed last month for his part in the rape
after picking up the victim in Oldham.

Norman Brennan, of the Victims of Support Trust, said the sentence was
`almost as disgusting as the crime itself'.

Three appeal judges will now look again at the sentence.
