ECO island
I understood this Island was now an "ECO Island" or at least aspiring
to be. Surely that means cutting down on waste and saving energy and
materials wherever possible.
Can someone explain then, why the "burnt out" pavillion in Seaclose
Park is being painted! Yes, painting a burnt out shell! not re-
building, nor repairing just painting. It is a council building and
they are supposed to be the driving force behind this eco-island
initative so why then are they, if not actually doing/paying for this
work, allowing this to happen?
I assume it has something to do with the Festival next month but I
could be wrong. Anyhow it can not be considered within this eco-
vision!

It is just more council bullshit. Nothing has changed and nothing extra is
being done to make this island green. The East Cowes ferry is so badly
organised that York Avenue becomes a holding lane, and all of the cars are
left on tickover, not very green at all. Certain that the island also has a
high proportion of gas guzzling, brand new cars is also overlooked in the
saving engery stakes too. How many councillors have brand new cars every
year? How many drive larger than necessary engine vehicles?
The festival is what gets me, the buses picking these people up chug gases
out like no tomorrow, the generators for the lighting, stages and music
speakers propably contribute heavily to the islands pollution output, this
is conveniently overlooked at festival time! This however is NOT essential
part of life so this could be done without.
It is also funny how half a dozen farmers object to energy saving wind
turbines being built, all to save the planet, but is rejected because their
view was going to be spoilt! Save the planet but not on our doorstep! How
many of them drive over the top Mercedes and BMW's?
At this years green island event, no doubt there will be hot dog stands with
oven blazing CO2 into the atmosphere and generators guzzling petrol, and no
doubt, most people who will attend will be the old crusties walking arms
behind their backs thinking it doesn't apply to them as they park up their
4.0 litre X5's.

Have you seen the amount of black smoke which comes out of the red jets?
Hardly eco-friendly.
