schools
I was expecting more stuff on the school closures on here than there has
been. IMO the most important subject in ages.

I think everyone is godsmacked at the moment.
Besides that a lot of people have been put off posting here by
cross-posted spam and other bad behaviour. Hopefully that situation
should improve now that the worst offender has unsubscribed.
The Council forum has been censored (although someone managed to slip
in a comment about more school buses being needed!)
A couple of interesting posts from Geoff Lumley-

I've always liked Geof Lumley, but then I'm a natural socialist and the
options are limited. WIth the LibDems still to soon out of power to get
re-elected and the tories commiting electoral suicide maybe a few more
Labour candidates might stand...or even an independent party for the IOW
with its HQ here

"an independent party for the IOW with its HQ here"
That's a good idea, you could call in something like the "Island First
Group" !
Seriously though, with the number of ageing retirees settling on the IoW
there is always going to be a strong natural Tory vote. It seems the Libs
might have been just a temporary anomaly. That's how it looks to an
outsider anyway, I'm probably not sufficiently informed...

I thought so too when I came here...but it turned out that Lib dem is
the natural party, with tories in second. It took a fairly disasterous
term last time out to upset the applecart

This will only happen if we allow it to happen. If the Island is
utterly opposed to this proposal then the Island can do something about it.
