Accident M3 Last Night
Last night I was involved in a serious accident on the M3 north bound
between Junctions 4 and 3. A large white van (Luton style), which had
earlier been driving erratically (attempting undertakes), move from lane to
lane 3 completely disregarding the fact I was alongside at the time. As a
result my vehicle was forced into the central barrier and then as I
attempted to regain control it crossed all three lanes ending up the
embankment. The vehicle following me 'T-boned' me, while I was at 90 degrees
across the carriage way. The driver of that vehicle has unfortunately been
hospitalised.

Prior to the accident, this white van had been tail-gating another vehicle
between junctions 5 and Fleet services and the driver of this vehicle left
the motorway at the services to escape it. Where you that driver?

If you were on the M3, northbound between Junctions 6 and 3 last night
between 8.30 and 9.00pm you may have seen this van or the incident.

I can only describe the driver of the van as a 'maniac' who has no regard
for other drivers or their safety.

If you have any info, please get in touch.

Thank you

Steve

Can't help you Steve, but just wish to say glad you are OK.

Did you have passenger/s? Are they OK?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune Steve, at least you lived to tell the tale.
You didn't say whether white-van-man fled the scene or stopped. I presume
the police are involved.

Police are involved, but seemed to feel it was unlikely they would trace the
van. Probably not worth their effort if they are unlikely to get a
conviction.

I've spoken to the driver of the car which hit me, I pleased to know that
after a hospital check he is ok, just a little sore from the airbag and seat
belt pre-tensioners going off. I'm glad we were both driving fairly
'modern' cars which are a lot safer that vehicles of 10-15 years ago.....

An update on the van colour, it was actually silver, I thought white but
then I was busy trying to avoid it. There are traces of paint on my car
which show that it did make contact with mine.

I have a great deal of sympathy for you. Crazy, irresponsible drivers
seem to be on the increase, often untaxed and uninsured. That we have no
sensible ID system in this country doesn't help.

Devices police have long given up chasing me over a fill 'n' flee
comedian who has bought several cars using my name and address. He
always pays cash, about GBP1000 for runners, and gives my name address
to the former owner. There is no obligation on sellers to verify
information they're given so I end up as the registered owner. I'm
surprised that no one saw the likelihood of this problem cropping up
when the open frontiers policy was decided on.

The last time the police did check up on me was to chase me for unpaid
fixed penalties. I was about seventy miles away in hospital when the
last offences took place. A sergeant said that I wouldn't be troubled
again because such checks are now being buck-passed to the motor
insurers. So that's all right, then.

It's all good for a wry chuckle.

Glad you agree. Some sort of ID system is better than none at all. Small
wonder that England is a magnet for many east European criminals.

When you've finished commenting on what a poster has to say, it's
sensible to delete the rest of his or her post rather than leave it

What is sad are the numbers who look around for a tool to beat me over
the head with and gleefully seize on the discredited debating tool of
invalidation in the misplaced belief that it's some sort of deadly
weapon. I've got bored with the number of times I've counselled the
uselessness of invalidation but the hordes still love it.

I was making a point about sloppy and careless posting. It may be only a
minor point but it's as well to remember Winston Churchill's salutary
point that the greatness of any individual or organization manifests
itself in attention to detail.

Taking some pride in presenting posts in a sensible manner is excellent
preparatory work for polishing attitudes to life in general. Society
rewards the careful with great riches whereas the consequence of sloppy
work is sloppy thinking thus encouraging the attitude: 'bugger it. I
might as well be shit at everything.' And so the rich and careful get
richer.

We're lucky in our society in having plenty of poverty to go around for

The last time the police did check up on me was to chase me for unpaid

might as well be shit at everything.' And so the rich and careful get
richer.

We're lucky in our society in having plenty of poverty to go around for
the benefit of the many losers who prefer it.
