Not such a strange idea, in fact quite possible.
I went out on an RNLI lifeboat a few years back with some work colleagues.
It was a regular "engine test", we donated £10 each I think towards the
RNLI.
The trip lasted about an hour, the only drawback was if there was a "shout"
we would have had to stay on the boat until after the rescue.
Thankfully no emergency and we all got back alright, albeit a little
seasick!
