A crop carving/circle has appeared in a field just up the road from
me. I saw it and took some pictures 26/6/07. The field is to the left
of Castle Hayes Lane, Google Earth ref: 52-50'52/83 N 1-41'57.89 W, or type 
Tutbury into GE and find your way from there. If you do go there please be
as respectful as you can of the farmers land and remaining undamaged crop.
I would have to be the first to say it's probably a hoax - it looks
like one but then I could only see it from the ground. Only a pilot in
a plane could see what it is really like. Are there any pilots that
could take a pic for the rest of us?

not like this though, and this field is flanked by other fields (see google 
earth) with the same crop at the same height and they're all untouched. Wind 
as you speak of would not have confined itself to the boundaries of one 
field. An aerial shot is what's really needed here...

That's exactly how wind often behaves in crops. It's often an effect of the 
profile of the landscape.

Strong localised downward gust of wind. Probably swirling.
Quite common before the existence of the short 
stalk type of crop. Interesting for all that.

not like this though, and this field is flanked by other fields (see google 
earth) with the same crop at the same height and they're all untouched. Wind 
as you speak of would not have confined itself to the boundaries of one 
field. An aerial shot is what's really needed here...

That's exactly how wind often behaves in crops. It's often an effect of the 
profile of the landscape.

Strong localised downward gust of wind. Probably swirling.
Quite common before the existence of the short 
stalk type of crop. Interesting for all that.

of another HMG failure. It does however, provide a forum in which
